Spending time by myself is one of my favourite things to do. Don’t get me wrong I love to be with others but I am also completely at ease in my own company.

I get that not everyone feels like this, some people can’t be alone without feeling lonely. However it is possible to enjoy spending time by yourself and to learn and grow from it.

Make time for yourself

Whenever I suggest to people that spending some time alone would do them good I nearly always get the same response. “I don’t have time” or “ I have too much to do to spend time sitting by myself doing nothing”.

Yes, time alone quietly reflecting or time spent on guided meditation can be beneficial but these aren’t your only options. 

There are so many things you can do alone. Remember, time spent alone needn’t be time wasted.

25 Fun Things To Do Alone

  1. Treat yourself! Have a spa day.
  2. Have an impromptu solo dance party.
  3. Watch your go to comfort movie.
  4. Cook yourself your favourite meal.
  5. Cross off a few things on your todo list.
  6. Travel somewhere new. See and do everything that you want to, with no compromises.
  7. Take up a new hobby. Learn and practice at your own pace.
  8. Spend an hour in the shower. Or as long as you want to. Sing as loud as you like.
  9. Get in the car and start driving, see where the road takes you.
  10. Pick a room in your house and decorate it anyway you want. Go crazy!
  11. Go out to cute little coffee shop. Read and eat as much cake as you can.
  12. Go out shopping and buy yourself something you’ve wanted for a while.
  13. Get organised! Tidy up the kitchen drawers, reorganise your office. Doesn’t sound like fun but the satisfaction will be enormous.
  14. Take yourself to the movies. See something you wouldn’t normally go and watch.
  15. Find a gorgeous cake recipe. Bake it then eat it.
  16. Write your bucket list.
  17. Learn something new. Take a class or online course.
  18. Make a playlist to suit your current mood.
  19. Go for a walk or hike and enjoy nature.
  20. Go to a concert, dance the night away.
  21. Look through old photos, reflect on happy memories.
  22. Start a journal.
  23. Take yourself out to a fancy restaurant.
  24. Write a letter to your future self.
  25. Watch something funny. Laugh as loud as you can.
